Speaking to reporters, the woman explained that many working men and women lack time to cook, creating a steady demand for her product.

“A cup of cooked beans costs just Shs 1,000,” she said, noting that her business is both sustainable and more profitable than previous jobs.

She appealed to the government to continue supporting small entrepreneurs with start-up capital to enable expansion and job creation.

“Some people have received support packages such as sweet potato vines, maize, and wheat seeds from State House programs. We also need more funding to grow,” she added.

During a recent visit to Lubaga Division, reporters observed several other beneficiaries successfully running small businesses.

These included chapati vendors, women frying chips, tailors using government-supplied fabrics, and snack makers—all thriving thanks to the program’s support.

Faizo Ndase, head of the Youth Wealth Creation Program, said over 1,700 beneficiaries across Kampala’s five divisions have already received assistance.

He praised their dedication and encouraged them to keep expanding their ventures.

“We are proud of these hardworking Ugandans who have taken the President’s vision seriously. The program will soon expand to other districts so more citizens can benefit from this effort to eradicate poverty,” Ndase said.

Beneficiaries expressed deep gratitude to President Museveni and the State House Office of Finance, led by Jane Barekye, for providing them with the means to earn a stable income.

“We thank the President for rescuing us from poverty. Many of us now have stable sources of income and can support our families,” said one beneficiary.

With continued expansion of the Youth Wealth Creation Program, the government hopes to empower thousands more Ugandans to achieve financial independence, one small business at a time.
